# How Are you found by AI? measures whether AI names your business

> Read your website, ask buyer questions, inspect the evidence, work through the fixes, measure again: the five steps behind every Are you found by AI? measurement.

Are you found by AI? starts with your website, measures what AI tells your buyers, keeps the answers, and gives you a plan for what to improve. Every measurement follows the same five steps: read, ask, inspect, fix and measure again.

## The five steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="01 Read your website">
    We read your website to identify your services, market and service area, then check the signals that help machines understand it.

    For example, a Brisbane mortgage broker who helps first-home buyers should be asked about that service in Brisbane, rather than an unrelated industry or location.
  </Step>

  <Step title="02 Ask buyer questions">
    The free scan asks buyer questions on ChatGPT and Gemini. The full measurement extends the question set across seven engines.

    **Engines covered by the full measurement:** ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek and Google AI Overviews. Available answers and sources depend on the completed measurement, and engine availability varies.

    We keep the answers and the sources returned with them. Where an engine returns its search queries, those are kept too.
  </Step>

  <Step title="03 Inspect the evidence">
    Your console brings the measurement together: which engines named you, who they named instead and the words behind each result. Being named, being cited as a source and receiving a visit are different outcomes.
  </Step>

  <Step title="04 Work through the fixes">
    The report separates AI Visibility, whether the engines name you, from AI Readiness, how well your website is set up to be understood. The fix plan turns the measurement into specific work.

    **On your website:** check how clearly you explain your services and service areas, and use the generated schema and llms.txt where they fit your site.

    **Beyond your website:** inspect the sources in your market's answers, and use that evidence to decide which profiles, listings or other references need attention.

    These are examples of the work a plan can identify. A website change does not guarantee that an engine will recommend you.
  </Step>

  <Step title="05 Measure again">
    Pro re-measures your pinned buyer questions on the schedule you choose: weekly, monthly or whenever you like. Each check spends tokens from your account. Your console keeps the results together so you can inspect changes over time. Compare the same questions and engines, and keep changes in coverage separate from changes in results.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How answers are counted

The headline measure is the **named share**: the countable saved answers that name your business, divided by all countable saved answers. If AI names a business in 7 of 28 countable answers, its named share is 25%.

* Every saved answer counts on its own. An engine may be asked the same question more than once, and each saved repetition counts. There is no majority vote.
* A link to your website on its own does not count as your business being named in the answer.
* Missing or incomplete evidence is left out, never counted as a no.
* Read the number with the questions, engines, date and answer count. A short free scan is a smaller sample than a full check.

AI answers can vary between runs. Repeating the same buyer questions over time helps you tell an isolated answer from a wider trend.

<Note>
  Site checks (crawler access, readable content, business facts, structured data and independent mentions) are separate checks. They are not extra percentages of AI recommendations, and an older weighted score cannot be converted into a named share. See [AI Visibility vs AI Readiness](/docs/concepts/visibility-vs-readiness).

## Free vs paid depth

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Free">
    | Attribute | Value |
    | - | - |
    | Questions | 2 |
    | Engines | 2 (ChatGPT and Gemini) |
    | Cadence | Re-checked monthly |
    | Signup required | No |
    | Price | US\$0 |

    Your result in about a minute, who AI names instead of you, an email when your result moves, and your own AI can read it over MCP.

  <Tab title="Pro">
    | Attribute | Value |
    | - | - |
    | Questions | Up to 25 (pinned) |
    | Engines | Seven |
    | Cadence | You choose: weekly, monthly or whenever you like |
    | Price | US\$79 a month for 14,000 tokens, or US\$869 a year |
    | Tokens per check | 3,150 for 25 buyers' questions plus a fresh site read |

    Every site you add spends from the same tokens. Four checks use 12,600 tokens; a fifth needs saved tokens or a top-up. Tokens you don't use last three months, and you can hold up to 42,000. What each engine said and what changed, who AI names instead of you and how often, new pages that mention you, the fix plan, a count of the visitors AI sends you, and your own AI over MCP. Plus GST in Australia (US\$86.90 a month, or US\$955.90 a year). If your first month's report does not give you at least five specific things you did not already know, reply within seven days for a full refund.

Token packs need no subscription: US\$10 buys 1,000 tokens, US\$20 buys 2,000 and US\$50 buys 5,000, and pack tokens last twelve months. ## Bring the evidence into your own AI

Connect a compatible assistant through MCP, a standard for connecting AI tools to data. It can read your measurement and help you work through the findings. Your assistant's advice is separate from the engine answers we measured. To try the public demo in Claude Code:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http found-by-ai https://areyoufoundbyai.com/mcp/demo
```

This command opens the public demo, not your private report.
