# Quick start: run your first Are you found by AI? scan

> Run your first free scan, see how often AI engines name your business in the saved answers, and get a prioritised fix plan, in about a minute.

Your first scan takes about a minute and needs no signup. You enter your website, Are you found by AI? reads it and asks buyer questions on ChatGPT and Gemini, and you get the saved answers, who the engines named instead of you, and a fix plan.

## Run your first scan

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to areyoufoundbyai.com and enter your website">
    Open [areyoufoundbyai.com](https://areyoufoundbyai.com) and paste your website into the scan field. That is the only input required.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait about a minute for the scan to complete">
    We read your website to identify your services, market and service area, then check the signals that help machines understand it. Next we ask buyer questions written for that market and keep the answers and the sources returned with them.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read your named share">
    The headline result is your **named share**: the countable saved answers that name your business, divided by all countable saved answers. Read it with the questions, engines, date and answer count beside it. Missing or incomplete evidence is left out, never counted as a no. The report also shows your **AI Readiness** score (out of 100) for how well your website itself is set up to be understood by AI.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the saved answers from each engine">
    Below the result you will find the answers each engine gave. You can see which engine named you, the words behind each result, and which businesses were named on the questions where you did not appear.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Work through the fix plan">
    The fix plan turns the measurement into specific work. On your website, check how clearly you explain your services and service areas, and use the generated schema and llms.txt where they fit your site. Beyond your website, inspect the sources in your market's answers to decide which profiles, listings or other references need attention.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  The **free scan** asks 2 questions on 2 engines (ChatGPT and Gemini) and is re-checked monthly. Gemini answers from its own knowledge without Google Search grounding. It is a real measurement, but a smaller sample than a full check. Your off-site Footprint is not measured on the free scan, so it shows as not measured rather than zero.
</Note>

## What you'll see in your report

| Section | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Named share** | How many of the countable saved answers named your business, as a count and a percentage. |
| **Saved answers** | The answer from each engine, keyed to the question asked, so you can read what the engine actually said. |
| **Who AI names instead** | The businesses the engines named on questions where you did not appear, and how often. |
| **AI Readiness** | A score out of 100 from five site signals: Citability, E-E-A-T, Technical, Schema and Platform. |
| **AI Visibility score** | An older weighted diagnostic score out of 100. It is not a percentage of AI recommendations and cannot be converted into a named share. |
| **Fix plan** | Prioritised actions, with a starter llms.txt written from your site. The full report generates the complete llms.txt and Organization or LocalBusiness schema built from your real business details. |

<Tip>
  Move to **Pro (US\$79 a month for 14,000 tokens, or US\$869 a year)** to ask up to 25 buyer questions across seven engines on the schedule you choose: weekly, monthly or whenever you like. A check of 25 buyers' questions plus a fresh site read uses 3,150 tokens, so four checks use 12,600 and a fifth needs saved tokens or a top-up. Every site you add spends from the same tokens. Repeating the same questions lets you compare the same questions and engines over time. If your first month's report does not give you at least five specific things you did not already know, reply within seven days for a full refund. A website change does not guarantee that an engine will recommend you.
