The free scan takes about a minute. It asks two buyer questions on two engines (ChatGPT and Gemini) and shows how often they name your business, who they name instead, the answers behind the result, and a separate check of how well your website is set up for AI. This page walks you through the process from entering your URL to reading your first report.
1

Go to areyoufoundbyai.com

Open areyoufoundbyai.com in your browser. You do not need an account to run a free scan.
2

Enter your website URL

Type or paste your website URL into the scan field and select Scan my site. Use your full domain (for example https://example.com). The scan reads your website to identify your services, market and service area, so the questions match what you actually sell and where.
3

Wait about a minute

The engines are asked live, so the scan takes about a minute. Keep the tab open while it runs.
4

Read your result

Your report opens with a percentage: the share of countable answers that name your business, with the counts beside it.
5

See who AI named instead

The competitors section lists the businesses the engines named in your answers, and says when they were named instead of you.
6

Read the questions and answers

The What we asked AI section shows each buyer question, the result on each engine, and the full answers behind it. Open them to read exactly what each engine said.
7

Start with the first fix

The report gives you one fix to start with, with Show me how for the details, and your website’s readiness score out of 100.

Understanding your first report

How often AI names you

The headline is the named share: countable saved answers that name your business, divided by all countable saved answers. If AI names a business in 7 of 28 countable answers, its named share is 25%.
  • Every saved answer counts on its own. An engine may be asked the same question more than once, and each saved answer counts.
  • A link to your website on its own does not count as your business being named in the answer.
  • Missing or incomplete evidence is left out, never counted as a no.
Read the number with the questions, engines, date and answer count beside it. A short free scan is a smaller sample than a full check, so treat it as a starting point.

AI Readiness

AI Readiness (out of 100) measures how well your website itself is set up to be understood by AI, from the site alone. It is composed of five site signals: Quotable content (Citability), Trust and credibility (E-E-A-T), Site health (Technical), Machine-readable info (Schema) and AI-ready setup (Platform). A signal that could not be verified is left out rather than scored zero, and each report states the share each signal carries. Your off-site presence (Wikidata and Knowledge Graph, Google Business Profile, brand mentions, search demand, referring domains) is scored separately as Footprint. The free scan does not measure Footprint, so it is shown as not measured rather than zero. Readiness is the part you control on your own site. It is a separate check, not an extra percentage of AI recommendations, and a good Readiness score does not guarantee that an engine will name you.

The AI Visibility score in the API and MCP

If you read your result through the scan API or over MCP, you will also see an AI Visibility score out of 100. It is an older weighted diagnostic score, not a percentage of AI recommendations, and it cannot be converted into a named share. Being named in the answer prose counts in full toward it; a positive result recorded only as a list entry, citation or source title counts half. Its bands are 60 or more “Visible to AI”, 25 or more “Partially visible”, and below 25 “Rarely visible”.

What the competitors section shows

The competitors section lists the businesses the engines named when your buyers’ questions were asked. Each name comes from a real answer to a real buyer question. It is your list for comparison and “alternatives” content: each competitor is a “you vs them” page worth owning.

What the answers show

The answers are the evidence behind the number. Read which engines named you, who they named instead and the words behind each result. Being named, being cited as a source and receiving a visit are different outcomes.
Free plan: 2 buyer questions on 2 engines (ChatGPT and Gemini), re-checked monthly, with an email when your result moves. Your own AI can read the result over MCP. Fair use is up to 15 free scans per browser per day. Every free scan also includes a starter llms.txt written from your site.
For the full picture across seven engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek and Google AI Overviews), Pro is US$79 a month for 14,000 tokens, or US$869 a year. A check of 25 buyers’ questions plus a fresh site read uses 3,150 tokens; four checks use 12,600, and a fifth needs saved tokens or a top-up. You choose weekly, monthly or whenever you like, and every site you add spends from the same tokens. Token packs start at US$10 for 1,000 tokens. Prices exclude GST; Australian customers pay US$86.90 a month. See pricing.
