Why Semrush is the wrong fit for a business owner
- You pay for a specialist SEO suite to see AI. The AI toolkit alone is US$99 a month, billed a year up front. With the SEO tools it starts at US$199 a month. A business owner doesn't need a specialist's keyword database to get recommended.
- It misses AI engines your buyers use. Semrush covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers. Claude, Grok and DeepSeek aren't there.
- Country-level results don't help a local business. Semrush tracks AI answers country by country. A mortgage broker in Austin doesn't compete across the whole United States. They compete in Austin, Round Rock and Cedar Park, and we measure area by area.
- The score only compares you with rivals. Semrush's AI Visibility Score sets your mentions against the median for competitors it chooses. If the whole market is invisible, you can score well and still never be recommended.
- Its advice stops at positioning. Semrush generates recommendations to refine how your brand is positioned. We write the actual fixes for your site.
